Madhya Pradesh: Khajuraho
Khajuraho, a small village in rural Madhya Pradesh in the center of India, is famous as the home of the Khajuraho Temples which date back to the 10th century and are now a UNESCO world heritage site. These temples was one of the reasons we went on this Beautiful adventure.
How to reach Khajuraho:
We traveled to Khajuraho using Public Transport from Jhansi Bus Stand. We had to change 2 buses one from Jhansi to Chattarpur and then another bus to Khajuraho. It took us around 5-6 hours to reach there. You can also take a Private Taxi from Jhansi. If you’re travelling from Satna you can get a direct bus to Khajuraho.
We stayed at Hotel Khush Khush which cost us 1500/- INR per day for one room, the room was booked through OYO and the place was clean and had good Facilities. There are many hotels near the market which can be booked online through apps such as OYO and Booking.com.
Places to Visit:
We reached Khajuraho in the Night, after relaxing for the night we left for sightseeing early morning the next day. The places we visited were:
- Raneh Falls
- Pandav Falls
- The Eastern and Western Group of temples.
We traveled using a Rickshaw for the Sightseeing and it cost us around Rs2000 per rickshaw. You can also do sightseeing using a Scooty, but as the distance was far and we had less time we took the Rickshaw.
After visiting the temples and the falls we went back to our rooms, The evening was spent at the market looking for places to have dinner and spent Shopping.
The Next day we caught an early morning Bus to Satna, It took us around four hours to reach Satna. From where we caught a Train back to Mumbai.
