Uttar Pradesh : Jhansi

Jhansi is a historic city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It lies in the region of Bundelkhand on the banks of the Pahuj River. This was the location we selected for our new adventure.

In this adventure we would be visiting the cities of Jhansi, Orchha and the Khajuraho Temples.

How to reach Jhansi:

This city is well connected to the major cities by Railways as well as buses. This was one of the reasons for starting our trip from here. So we caught an evening train from Mumbai and reached Jhansi in the afternoon. Once we got down at the Railway station we were approached by Rickshaw walas who promised to show us around some hotels for stay.

Accommodation:

We stayed at Hotel Highway which cost us 1500/- INR per day for 5 people, the room was not that good and can be skipped (prices may differ from season to season). You can also book online, rooms through apps such as OYO and Booking.com.

Places to Visit:

As we were in Jhansi for just one day, we did not visit many places just the Jhansi Fort and some nearby gardens. There are other places to visit as well such as:

  • Government Museum
  • Rani Mahal
  • St Jude’s Shrine

We traveled using a Rickshaw and it cost us Rs10 to Rs20 per person. All the places are also well connected with buses and Rickshaw’s.

After visiting the Fort we headed out to the main market area where we had some delicious snacks of Panipuri, Veg puff and Kachori.

After enquiring for a bus to take us to Orchha as well as Khajuraho we had our Dinner at Swad Restaurant which is situated in the main market area.
